The CBD industry is on the rise and it seems like everyone is getting on the bandwagon, so it’s important to shop with care and do your due diligence when shopping for a trusted CBD company.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower of cannabis, a plant with a rich history as a medicine going back thousands of years. In order to make CBD into a sublingual or oral product it is extracted from the cannabis plant. Several extraction methods are used with the most popular being the Co2 extraction to make a full spectrum CBD oil product. Once extracted, the CBD must be infused to a carrier oil, such as MCT oil. The options are endless as which carrier oil is best. Essentially, it just depends on personal preference and tastes. Other carrier oils used are olive oil, hemp seed oil, grapeseed oil, vegetable glycerin, and coconut oil.
Is it Legal?
As of the 2018 Farm Bill, CBD derived from industrial Hemp is federally legal and can be purchased online and shipped to all 50 states. However, each state can have it’s own laws regarding Cannabis (and hemp). If you have questions about the legality of hemp in your state, contact your states Attorney General’s office.
There have been numerous reports of startup companies that either don’t have any CBD in their products or have synthetic cbd and toxins in their products.
What to Look For when Shopping for a Trusted CBD Company
First and foremost, consumers need to understand the CBD market is not regulated by the FDA. It is important for companies to disclose this fact with a disclaimer on their websites…
*These products and statements have not evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and patients should consult with a physician or medical professional regarding any medical diagnoses.
CBD oil, or any CBD product, is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or medical condition. If you are pregnant or nursing, please discuss with your physician before using dietary supplements.
The most common reasons for using CBD are pain relief for chronic pain. However, according to the FDA, CBD is a dietary supplement used to improve overall wellbeing. It is against the law for a company to make any medical claims about CBD beyond “improved wellbeing”. Avoid companies that make any type of medical claim. Either they are a startup and don’t know any better, or they are intentionally disregarding the law. Either way you don’t want to purchase from them. Several MLM (Multi-Level-Marketing) companies have been reprimanded already for making medical claims.
Independent third-party lab results
When shopping for CBD oil drops or products, always look for independent third party lab results. These lab results should have a letter head from the lab that conducted the testing. If the letterhead is from a CBD company, the testing was not by an independent third party lab. The most transparent companies are happy and willing to get their products tested by independent labs and make them available to their customers.
A Trusted CBD Company Has Longevity in the Market
All of our trusted and recommended brands have at least 2 years of industry experience. Therefore, they are neither inexperienced or a startup in this emerging industry. Our favorite brands are Nuleaf Naturals, Lazarus Naturals, 4 Corners Cannabis, CBDfx and CBDistillery. Also, all of our favorites have excellent customer service and free shipping.
Marketing and Accurate Labels
All of the trusted and recommended brands have ethical marketing practices including accurate labels. Some startups label as THC FREE, however lab results reflect THC in the content. As a result, can be a huge problem for those customers who are subject to random employment drug testing. We believe the label should accurately reflect the content of the product and marketing should be honest in all respects.
