Homemade Fresh Salsa Recipes – Hippie Hot Sauce

My family loves Homemade Fresh Salsa.  We call it “Hippie Hot Sauce” because it’s so eclectic.  My neighbors look forward to Christmas because I gift my salsa every year.  It’s fresh, yummy, has several variations depending on heat and flavors.  You can add mexicorn if desired,  zucchini or bell pepper, cilantro or none….it is so versatile, everyone will find a variation they love.

Hippie Hot Sauce

  • 1 can (15 oz) Whole tomatoes
  • 1 large Fresh tomato
  • Red onion (how much depends on taste – I typically add half of a small red onion)
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup of cilantro
  • Jalapeno peppers (from jar and to taste – a little goes a long way)
  • Juice of two fresh limes
  • 1 tsp Red wine vinegar
  • 1-2 Tbsp of Garlic salt

Put all ingredients into a blender and blend.   Put into beautiful glass jars and give to someone you love….or enjoy yourself.  Keep Refrigerated.  Makes 2 quarts.

Variations:

add any ingredient you like such as black beans, mexicorn, and bell peppers.  Or eliminate any ingredient you don’t prefer…like red onion or cilantro.
